So, I am really bad at keeping track of Alice's life. I haven't started a baby book or anything. That's why I started this blog.
Alice Sunflower Leavitt
Born December 16, 2009 at 8:48am.
Weighed 7 pounds 4 ounces, and was 19.5 inches long.
Having a baby is seriously the most unreal experience.
I started feeling really uncomfortable the afternoon before she was born. I wasn't really having contractions yet but I knew that I was going to end up in the hospital that night. When you go 9 months without any complications (with the exception of the worst case of morning sickness ever, and a freaking horrible urinary infection) or signs of baby coming, you just know when it's gonna happen I guess.
Anyways, Justin and I went to Chili's with my mom around 8:30 for dinner and I started having contractions (yuck!) A couple hours later the contractions started getting worse and were coming every 10 minutes. I wanted to die..or just not move at all.
Around 1am it was time to go to the hospital.
So we grabbed our bags, and stopped by the gas station for some treats of course.
When we got to the hospital we could hear this poor woman screaming at the top of her lungs, which of course scared the crap out of me. The nurse told us she was birthing all natural...which I had absolutely no intentions of doing.
After I was done changing, they checked me and I was dilated to a 4 so I got plugged in and moved to my room. I was given a little bit of pain medication because my contractions started getting pretty bad, and the anesthesiologist came in probably 2 hours after I was admitted.
That guy became my best friend very quickly. I fell asleep for another 2 hours after he gave me the epidural. When I woke up the nurses told me that my doctor was probably going to come in and break my water because it hadn't broken yet. He came in around 7:30ish and I was at a 9, but he didn't break my water because he was just about to start surgery.
About half an hour later it was time to push. They have no idea when my water broke! But the nurse was happy to start delivering our little girl. She kept saying "I delivered the hair"...she was cute haha.
Then the doctor came in and Alice arrived at 8:48am, and I only needed a couple stitches. All in all it was a really easy delivery (thanks to the drugs!). The worst part was the IV..I couldn't take it out until I could get myself to the bathroom without any help.
After Alice was born she stayed awake for hours until we popped that binky in her mouth.
She just loves that thing.
She was jaundice so she had to have her foot pricked quite a bit and she had to spend some time in this awesome baby tanning bed....but she really loved that thing. It was so warm, it made her sleep through the whole night.
At her two week check-up she:
-weighed 7 pounds 5 ounces (25%)
-was 20.47 inches tall (58%)
-and had a 14 inch round head (38%)
And now at two months she:
-weighs 10 pounds 15.5 ounces (54%)
-is 23.13 inches tall (78%)
-and has a 15.5 inch round head (63%)
She is holding her head up really great.
Sleeping through the night, every night.
Eating 5 to 6 ounces always! (Little piggy)
And cooing, giggling, and smiling all the time.
Oh, and she is so so so wiggly.
She is my little worm.
But we are so lucky to have such an easy, amazing, smart baby. I can't imagine life without her!
she is absolutly precious. Thats awesome you sound like you had a great delivery!! :)
ReplyDeleteOk, so happy I found your blog! Um, let me just tell you that I laughed out loud when you mentioned the lady screaming... I totally did that when I had Max and was SO embarrassed after!! Pushing out a baby without meds is PAIN and I couldn't control myself. Wonder if I scared anybody around, LOL!!
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute baby, I need to meet her!!
